Hörmann – Europe’s leading supplier of doors and gates – is investing in a LÖMI solvent recycling system.
Globally and locally, sustainability is one of Hörmann’s most important corporate strategies. A recycling system for ethyl acetate was already in operation at the Ichtershausen / Amt Wachsenburg site in the local paint shop. This solvent is produced in large quantities there during the cleaning processes for paint containers and application tools.
“LÖMI impressed us with the extremely positive feedback from a customer who has been operating an identical plant for over 10 years, as well as the smooth distillation trial at their site in Grossostheim,” explains a Hörmann mechanical engineer who provided technical support for the project. “These are crucial prerequisites, especially when it comes to a new supplier.”
The LÖMI agitator and scraper system, which will replace the existing unit and produce an average of 65 l/h of pure solvent at full load, also complies with Hörmann’s environmental philosophy in terms of its heating: the solvent is preheated by factory-supplied hot water using an integrated heat exchanger, which contributes significantly to energy savings.
The replacement of the system is also being carried out in a consistently sustainable manner: peripheral and safe-to-use components, such as safety trays, will continue to be used in the new LÖMI system.
LÖMI is proud to have placed its high-quality recycling technology with such a renowned customer as Hörmann, a German family-owned company that rightly prides itself on its “Quality made in Germany” reputation.
By the way, this was the very order we had initially hinted at anonymously in our June post and wanted to provide further information about.
